MSMR were appointed by the Kamel Lazaar Foundation to assist in the refurbishment and repurposing of this Grade II-listed, neo-classical building in Fitzrovia. Working in collaboration with Sumayya Vally of Counterspace, 93 Mortimer Street is now home to Ibraaz, a dedicated space for art, culture, and ideas from the Global Majority.
The new art centre features a café and bookshop which create an active façade with Mortimer Street, a main assembly hall for exhibition and gatherings at ground level, a theatre platform dedicated to screenings and musical performances at lower ground level, and a library on second floor.
