As part of the BBC Television Centre masterplan, MSMR were commissioned to design the interior fit-out of Scenery House, a crescent-shaped building designed by DRMM that occupies the site of the former scenery workshop and production facility.
The building comprises 163 apartments across ground and eight upper floors, alongside 17 three-storey townhouses that form a new street within the masterplan. Residents will benefit from panoramic views across west London, the neighbouring Hammersmith Park and newly created courtyard gardens, whilst the townhouses enjoy private landscaped roof gardens. Shared amenity spaces include a residents' lounge and cinema room.
Our brief was to maximise the development's value through careful consideration of unit size, mix and distribution throughout the building. We developed internal layouts, materials and finishes suited to UK purchasers and family living, offering standard, premium and penthouse variants. The designs respond directly to the architectural character of the façade and historic Television Centre buildings, drawing on their colours, textures and materials to create coherent, considered interiors that reflect their context.
