The site is located on the northern edge of the London Borough of Wandsworth, 100 metres south of the River Thames and a short walk from Battersea Park and Chelsea Embankment.
MSMR’s design responds to the immediate location, the surrounding environment and historical context, and reflects the brickwork aesthetic of dockside warehouses.
Careful internal planning of the scheme's residential element has ensured a high proportion of family-sized affordable units, with all accommodation exceeding London Housing Design Guide standards. The design also ensures that each apartment has its own balcony, terrace, or access to private gardens.
A key objective of the scheme was to improve the permeability of the site. This has been achieved by introducing new pedestrian circulation routes, including a route along Ransome’s Dock to the east of the site.
