MSMR Architects successfully secured planning permission and prepared comprehensive design intent information for for nine family houses in Southwark. The unusual massing strategy for the scheme maximised natural daylight whilst avoiding overlooking on this tight urban site. The strategy also presented an opportunity for a more creative and flexible design approach, with the resulting scheme incorporating a series of different elevational patterns. Upper floors are incrementally reduced in size with two bedrooms at first floor level, one of which opens to a roof terrace.
The residential development on Alice Street forms part of the affordable requirement for the NEO Bankside development on London’s South Bank and is designed to “Lifetime Homes” standards and Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4.
