Design win for MSMR Part 1

MSMR's Yanni Pitsillides has won a design competition to remodel a Liverpool city roof terrace for commercial property company Bruntwood.

Bruntwood invited proposals from architects, design consultants and students to create Liverpool’s smallest roof terrace - with the challenging Queens Insurance Buildings site measuring just 3.6m x 2.4m.

The winning design, submitted by year-out student Yanni and two of his Sheffield University classmates, will be fully realized by Bruntwood and in use for at least a year.

The design - entitled "Sunken Garden in the Sky" - uses Liverpool-sourced, reclaimed and recycled materials along with a selection of aromatic plants to create an evergreen city oasis.
